This is a big project for me. My teammate and I successfully conducted eight interviews. We are aware of the importance of crossing faultlines, and chose a diversity of interviewees. We listened to voices from International students from Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America.
We also did a lot of research on the latest ICE policy and interviewed the spokesperson at MU.
It turns out that timing is a key element in every news story. When we were working on our project, the ICE policy has been changed, and eventually been cancelled. We had to make a lot of changes to our original story. We need to be aware of the rule of timeliness.
It is also important for a journalist to find out enough sources for a story. When I need to conduct more interviews for an updated story, it is easier for me to find available sources to make follow-up interviews.
